Open Studio in La Grange, Tx

I spent a fabulous Friday in La Grange, TX at the Great Expectations Creativity Center. The Open Studio luncheon was hosted by Karey Bresenhan, the Director of International Quilt Festival and she was honoring 2 artists in residence, Virginia Spiegel, and Carol Moore. The Center and Karey's home is located just outside La Grange, TX. on beautiful Texas land covered with 100 year old oaks. Around 60+ people from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin and the surrounding areas met at the center to spend a fun day visiting with friends, have lunch and do mini workshops. Ruth Powers was there with her stamps, as well as Frances Holliday Alford, Frances had her famous postcards and many had the opportunity to make some of their own.
After spending some time at the Creativity Center people scattered around the property for a walk while others left to visit the other quilt related exhibits in the area. The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild had an ongoing exhibit and the Copper Shade Tree Gallery in Round Top was still hosting the Art quilts exhibit.
I had a very good time and I enjoyed the beautiful weather with temperatures in the 80's. Just what I needed to mark the beginning of the weekend.
