Color Theory

Color my world....
I had an amazing weekend learning about color theory. The Austin Fiber Artist group organized a workshop with Jane Dunnewold. Jane is the author of Complex Cloth, Improvisational Screen Printing and also Fifteen Beads. Her studio, called Art Cloth Studios is located in San Antonio, Texas. Don't forget to check out her website at www.complexcloth.com
We worked on learning the terminology and properties of textile paints. It was a weekend full of creativity and energy as we concentrated on painting the color wheels and gradations on white and black paper and also fabric. After the first day of the workshop, on my way home, I couldn't help noticing colors in a very different way from what I'm used to. Once you learn about hue, value and intensity you just see color in a very different way

I did go home and worked on more color wheels....

"Each time you work for even steps in these wheels, you are training your eye to perceive small but significant differences in hues. Relationship is everything."

Good for you, Martha. I love this. I wish I had taken this workshop! Check out my blog for a crazy natural color theory lesson from a rock (agate)
