Queen of Hearts

Sunday was a day designated to making art quilts using the heart template. As I explained in my previous post, I used a template to do the outline and free motion quilted the rest.
On the heart with the black and white check on the left and the purple/many colors on the right hand side I used tulle over the fabric. Black for one, lavender for the other. After I stitched the hearts and background I cut off the tulle so It would show the fabric underneath. I had a lot of fun playing with the template technique and the outcome is always kind of a surprise. I will call them art quilts with a heart!
